The official website for the live-action film of Aya Nakahara‘s Otonanajimi (Adulthood Friends) manga unveiled a new trailer and a new poster visual for the film. The trailer reveals and previews the film’s theme song “Sweet Melody” by the group Kis-My-Ft2.

The manga’s romantic comedy story centers on childhood friends Kaede Kagaya and Haru Aoyama. Ever since they were four years old, Haru has been helping out Kaede, and Kaede has held a secret crush on Haru ever since — two decades later. But now, thanks to a different girl making a pass on Haru, and the entrance of a different male childhood friend named Iori, things might finally start moving in a romantic direction for Kaede and Haru. (The manga’s title is a wordplay on the Japanese words otona [adult] and osananajimi [childhood friends].)

Mizuki Inoue (live-action Tomodachi Game R4, Yowamushi Pedal film, left in image above) from the HiHi Jets male idol group plays Haru Aoyama in the film, while Rinka Kumada (live-action Marry Me!, Seishun Cinderella, right) plays Kaede Kagaya. (The photo above recreates the cover art on the manga’s first volume.)

Riku Hagiwara (left in image above) plays perfect student and worker Iori Hasumi, while Nana Asakawa (right) plays enthusiastic designer and romantic Mio Kotomori.

The film will open on May 12. Hiroto Takahashi is directing the film, with a script by Erika Yoshida.
Nakahara (Love*Com, Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai) launched the Otonanajimi manga in Shueisha‘s Cocohana magazine in March 2019, and ended it in October 2021. The manga’s eighth and final compiled book volume shipped in December 2021.
Nakahara launched the Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai manga in Shueisha‘s Monthly You magazine in April 2013, and ended it in August 2016. Shueisha published 10 compiled book volumes for the manga. Nakahara launched the Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai R sequel manga in Monthly You in October 2016, and ended the series in its sixth volume, which shipped in November 2018. The manga inspired a live-action television series adaptation in January 2016.
Viz Media published Nakahara’s Love*Com manga’s 17 volumes in North America, and Viz Pictures released the manga’s live-action film adaptation on DVD. Discotek Media released the 2007 television anime series adaptation in North America in July 2013. Nakahara also launched the Ōkami to Suzu (The Wolf and the Bell) manga in Cocohana in November 2021.

Under the table is the angel’s secret.
The boy’s name was Hitori. A stork brought the angel into the lives of a middle-aged couple who were not blessed with children. His parents were kind, his house spacious, and his meals hot. But to protect the happiness he had received, Hitori continued to hide an important secret from his parents.

Anime based on light novel series will premiere in July
The official Twitter account for the anime of Haruki Kuō‘s Liar Liar (not related to Renjuro Kindaichi‘s Liar x Liar manga) light novel series revealed a second promotional video on Sunday.

The anime will premiere in July on the TOKYO MX, BS Asahi, and Sun TV channels. Previously announced cast members include:
The “academy x mind game x romantic comedy” story is set on the “Academy” island where students battle to determine their rankings. Hiroto Shinohara earned the highest ever grade in this school’s entrance exam, the toughest in the entire country. On his first day at the school, he takes down the previous reigning queen, Sarasa Saionji, and becomes the fastest ever student to join the school’s elite “Seven Stars.”
Except, he didn’t really. It’s all a lie. Now to maintain his top ranking, he must fight these school mind games with lies and bluffs. He does whatever it takes with the help of the cute “cheat maid” Shirayuki Himeji (voiced by Miku Itō in a previous promotional video) and even Saionji (who is actually a phony herself).
Satoru Ōno and Naoki Matsuura (Girls’ Frontline episode director) are directing the anime at Geek Toys. Momoka Toyoda (Shadows House episode script writer) is in charge of the series scripts. Yumi Nakamura (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku OVA 2-3 character designer) is designing the characters. Yasuya Yuki is the color key artist, and Ji Woo Park is the art director. Baek Ryun Chae is the technical director, and Keisuke Yanagi is in charge of editing. Ryousuke Naya is the sound director. Kuniyuki Takahashi and Keiichi Hirokawa from MONACA are composing the music with MONACA CyberAgent as the music producer.
Kadokawa‘s MF Bunko imprint launched the novel series with art by the Kinokonomi illustrator unit member konomi in April 2019, and the 13th volume shipped on March 25. Yen Press licensed the novels and will release the first volume in English on August 22.
Funa Yukina launched the manga adaptation in Kadokawa‘s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in August 2019, and the second compiled book volume shipped in November 2020.
