Newest entry in Professor Layton mystery series

Level-5 announced Professor Layton and The New World of Steam (Layton Kyōju to Jōki no Shinsekai), a new entry in its Professor Layton puzzle game series, on Wednesday. The game will debut on Switch, but Level-5 did not reveal a release date for the game.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Journey was the previous entry in the series. The game launched in Japan for Nintendo 3DS and worldwide for iOS and Android devices in July 2017. The game then launched for Nintendo 3DS in the West in October 2017. The game launched for the Switch in August 2018, and that version headed West in November 2019. The original game inspired the Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File television anime, which premiered in April 2018, and ended in March 2019.

The official website for the television anime of Shin Araki‘s Eiyū Kyōshitsu (Classroom For Heroes) light novel series unveiled a new promotional video and a new visual for the anime on Wednesday. The video reveals more staff, July premiere date, and theme song artists for the anime.

VTuber Kaede Higuchi is performing the anime’s opening theme song. Akane Kumada is performing the anime’s ending theme song. The anime’s website did not reveal the titles of the songs.

Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Sket Dance, Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU, Shadowverse) is directing the anime at Actas. Naoki Hayashi (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU, Citrus, Black Fox) is writing and supervising the scripts. Kōsuke Kawamura (OniAi, ISLAND, Remake Our Life!) is the character designer and chief animation director.

The academy fantasy novel series is set in Rosewood Academy, a school that trains future heroes destined to protect mankind. The school accepts only those with the most potential. Arnest Flaming, a girl who boasts the top record in the academy, is assigned to guide a mysterious but cheerful new student named Blade who rivals her own power.

Araki published the first volume under Shueisha‘s Dash X Bunko light novel label in January 2015, with illustrations by Haruyuki Morisawa (The Princess and the Pilot, The Pilot’s Love Song, Lagrange – The Flower of Rin-ne). The 13th volume will ship on Friday.

Koara Kishida launched a manga adaptation of the novels in Shueisha‘s Ultra Jump magazine in February 2015.

Araki previously wrote the GJ Club light novel series. which had nine main volumes from 2010 to 2012, and a sequel middle school series that ran for eight main volumes from 2012 to 2014. The novels inspired a 2013 television anime. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

The staff for the first ever stage musical adapatation of Tomoko Ninomiya‘s Nodame Cantabile manga announced on Monday that Juri Ueno is returning from the live-action series and film adaptations of the manga as Megumi “Nodame” Noda in the musical, while Hiroki Miura will play Shinichi Chiaki.

Ikko Ueda is directing the stage musical, while oboist Daisuke Mogi returns from the live-action series and film as classical music supervisor. The musical will debut in Tokyo’s Theater Creation in early October.

The original manga series centers around Nodame and Chiaki, two music students who drive themselves and each other to greater artistic heights, and find themselves on parallel paths in Japan and later Europe.

Ninomiya launched the manga in Kiss in 2001, and ended it in 2009. Kodansha published 23 compiled book volumes for the series. Del Rey published 16 volumes of the manga in North America until the publisher ceased releasing manga. Kodansha Comics later released the full series digitally in English.

The manga was adapted into three television anime series, and has also received several live-action series and film adaptations.

Anonymous;Code Game’s Trailer Reveals English Dub for September 8 Launch

Spike Chunsoft began streaming a new trailer for the Anonymous;Code game on Tuesday. The trailer reveals the game’s September 8 release date in the West for Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, and also reveals the game’s English dub, a first for MAGES.Science Adventure visual novel series.

The announced English dub cast for the game includes Max Mittelman as Pollon, Anairis Quiñones as Momo, and Y. Chang as Cross. Andrew Hodgson (“Steiner”) is translating the game. Spike Chunsoft‘s release will have a steelbook launch edition.

MAGES. president Chiyomaru Shikura had teased in October 2020 that the game might have a release for the PlayStation 5, but there is currently no planned release for the platform.

The game was originally planned for PS4 and PlayStation Vita, but MAGES. announced in 2017 that the game will also release for Nintendo Switch. MAGES. will no longer release the game on PS Vita.

The game is the latest “Science Adventure” game after the Chaos;HEAd, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, Chaos;Child, and Occultic;Nine projects. Shikura originally announced the game in 2015, and the game has seen multiple delays in its release.
