Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga creator Aka Akasaka announced on Thursday that he intends to stop working as a manga artist and will now focus solely on writing. (Akasaka uses the word “gensaku,” which literally means “original work,” but in the context of manga production, denotes the specific task of writing a manga’s story, as opposed to drawing the art.) He intends Kaguya-sama: Love is War to be the last manga for which he was responsible for the drawing.
He added that he still plans to draw as a relaxing hobby.
He also noted that while Kaguya-sama: Love is War recently ended on Wednesday, the manga ended with some foreshadowing, and that he is working to “make good” on that foreshadowing “in the best way possible.”
Akasaka has, focused more on writing for manga that other people draw in recent years, such as Oshi no Ko, which Mengo Yokoyari draws. He also previously drew the Sayonara Piano Sonata manga, which Hikaru Sugii wrote. Earlier this year, Shueisha‘s Young Jump magazine held auditions for a new manga artist, with an opportunity to work with Akasaka on a new manga.
Akasaka began the Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga in Shueisha‘s Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015 but it moved to Young Jump in March 2016. The manga ended on Wednesday. Shueisha published the manga’s 27th compiled book volume on October 19, and will publish the 28th volume on December 19.
Akasaka and Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish) launched the Oshi no Ko manga in Young Jump in April 2020. Shueisha‘s MANGA Plus service is releasing the manga in English. Shueisha‘s published the manga’s ninth compiled book volume on October 19. Yen Press licensed the manga. The manga is also inspiring an upcoming anime.

Disney Senior Dubbing Manager: Heavenly Delusion Anime to Get Simulcast in U.S.

Disney’s senior manager of English dubbing Reuben Lack stated on Twitter on Monday that the television anime adaptation of Masakazu Ishiguro‘s Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Dai Makyō) manga will get a simulcast in the U.S. The anime will stream on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ worldwide. Lack added that the anime will get an English dub at a later date.
The anime will stream exclusively on Disney+ worldwide on April 1, and will air in Japan on Tokyo MX, Hokkaido TV, RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, TV Aichi, MBS, and BS11.
The anime stars:
Hirotaka Mori (episode director for Joker Game, unit director for Psycho-Pass film) is directing the anime at Production I.G. Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass, School-Live!) is overseeing the series scripts, and Utsushita of Minakata Laboratory is the character designer. kensuke ushio (Space Dandy, A Silent Voice, Chainsaw Man) is composing the music.
BiSH is performing the opening theme song “innocent arrogance,” and ASOBI is performing the ending theme song “Daremo Karemo Dokomo Nanimo Shiranai” (I Don’t Know Anyone Anywhere Anything).
Denpa is releasing the manga in English, and it describes the story:
Within the safety of the walls, youths are raised in a nursery-style setting by robots. While life there may appear stale on the surface, the children are full of potential and curiosity. In many ways it is like a slice of heaven. The outside world is a hell-scape. It is almost entirely void of anything mechanical and is now inhabited by bizarre, yet powerful super-natural beings.
Maru, with the aid of Kiruko, is out there crisscrossing what was once Tokyo for heaven. But after searching for so long, maybe heaven is more of an untenable dream than a potential reality.
Ishiguro (And Yet the Town Moves) launched the ongoing manga in Kodansha‘s Afternoon magazine in January 2018. The manga had an animated promotional video to commemorate the first volume’s release in July 2018. The manga topped the list of manga for male readers in the 2019 edition of Takarajimasha‘s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook.

Azuki announced on Tuesday that it will digitally publish NAZ and Masato Fujisaki‘s Gloomy Bear: Apocalyptic Love manga based on Mori Chack’s Gloomy Bear character in English on April 4. The one-shot manga will be available on Azuki‘s website as well as on its iOS and Android applications.
Azuki describes the manga’s story:
A young man and woman have kept keychains as mementos of each other, even after they drifted apart. But one day, when they find themselves under attack by zombies, the keychains come to life to protect them! Can Gloomy Bear and All-Purpose Bunny defeat the zombies and bring the two back together?
Mori Chack created the Gloomy Bear character in 2000. The illustrator also created characters such as Podolly and Kumakikai.
The Itazura Guma no Gloomy (Gloomy the Naughty Grizzly) television anime series premiered in April 2021. The anime celebrated the 20th anniversary of the character. Mori had released a “trial” animated short for the character in 2014.
